Russ - Hear what you're saying, but I for one would disagree. I think he's a talented coach, but that's just my opinion. And fwiw, Mourinho speaks highly of him.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
My opinion of thr guy is what it is. If I met him in person I may like him. I very much doubt it, but I may?

I just cannot stand people like him. And in football and business you get them in their droves.

People who are no better than anyone else in the game or business but because they talk a good game other people, and the person in question, start to believe they are actually better than anyone else.

Rodgers is a self absorbed wally and no better than the general standard of coach / manager out there. The documentary and his record at Liverpool are proof of that.

Would I want him at West Ham. Well, I suppose I could bear him for the sake of getting Allardyce out. But now Sam has gone if it looked like Rodgers was coming in it would make me go cold.

The guy is a bullshitting prick. That link to all his quotes proves that. We have just got rid of a serial excuser. What we don't need is a serial bullshitter.

Rodgers would still be analysing the situation and putting names in an envelope while Russ had f*cked off with the parachute I reckon...

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Russ, I get the feeling that if it was just you and Rodgers in a falling plane, and there was one parachute, you'd give it to him, and jump out, so you didn't have to spend 1 more second in his company?

Yeah, and what did he say in 2012?

"Judge me in three years time"

Stoke 6 - 1 Liverpool

Judged. Fucking mug.

And "He's made some bad buys" that is the fucking understatement of the century. His transfer record is woeful. And anyone who actually believes he has no say in transfers is a fucking berk or just being pedantic.

I'm not comparing Allardyce to Rodgers.

My point is that I believe Rodgers to be an arrogant, self obsessed little dwarf who believes his own hype and mythology.

As I said, he obviously knows his coaching but at the end of the day if you manage people like David Brent you will come undone.

Some of those are pretty good. No wonder he's been pulled up.

Is Klopp a giant, or Rodgers a midget?

He does hold one record for Liverpool, that's being the only manager since the 1950's not to win a trophy in his first 3 seasons in charge.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Indeed, Trundle. I could understand if he set them up defensively to counter a better team or something, but some of their defending was worse than sunday park football aginst an average Stoke side.

They look really unsettled as a club and King Kenny got sacked for less.

A player like Suarez in the side can easily make the difference between second in the league and fourth of fifth.

Lee Trundle 4:17 Wed May 27
Re: Brendan Rodgers
In their last game against Stoke, Liverpool didn't play with any strikers, a 4-6-0 formation. A far cry from the Suarez/Sturridge/Sterling combo.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
I think a contributing factor to the season they came 2nd was that they didn't have european football and bombed out of the cups early, so they only had one focus come the time they went on that impressive run.

I like his philosphy and desire to work and build something with youth, the way he got the team to attack using Suarez/Sturridge/Sterling combo was stunning to watch, but his tactics seem to lack something defensively which ultimately lost him the league.

He was unlucky to lose Sturridge to injury this season after Suarez left but his decision to bring in Ballotelli as a replacement has completely unsettled the side and balance of the team.

All in all, he has taken over an FA Cup winning side that has spent hundreds of millions on players and won nothing, whilst seeing the end of their best 2 players in Suarez and Gerrard and has their next best unsettled and wanting out. I'd be surprised if they keep him as I think there are plenty of managers that could do a better job than him.
